There is one thing we do not need to bother about here – we both Work From Home, so we do not have the added hassle of how we will get to the office each day. Although it is a bother not to have a vehicle to pop to the shops, and there may be some Xmas rearrangements to negotiate, we can continue with our work without issue.

My Internet Business does from time to time include visits to my clients, but fortunately I had none sorted, so I would not need to inconvenience anybody through this misfortune. Most of my work involves Online Jobs and these can be carried out very easily without the need for a vehicle.

As it happens, the garage who were tasked with repairing my vehicle could come out the next day and collect it, leaving me a courtesy vehicle at the same time. Again, the fact I Work From Home was a benefit, as I did not need to take time from my work to take delivery of the courtesy vehicle, or to see the safe recovery of my own car. The garage merely telephoned as the driver was leaving and I was able to meet him to sort out the handover. Within 15 minutes all was completed. No more time than a coffee break would take in an office, but had I been working away from my house I would no doubt have needed to request a whole morning or afternoon off work to sort this out.

Back into my house and carry on with my Online Jobs. My Internet Business was not at all put under stress because of this crash. I do not know how long my motor will be in the garage, but it is not an issue. When they phone to advise that my vehicle is back to being repaired and they are ready to return it to me, I shall once again be able to walk outside, check the vehicle out, sign the papers and return indoors to carry on with my work.

The courtesy vehicle does need to be returned with fuel and washed, so I may have to spend half an hour away from the house, doing these tasks, but it is certainly better than having to request yet another day off work at short notice, which could inconvenience many of my colleagues.

Definitely, the fact that I Work From Home has been an added bonus and caused me less trouble in these circumstances than would have been the case if I was employed by a company which required me to be in the office daily. I now just look forward to the return of my vehicle looking as good as new.

My car was white with the snow and I thought how lucky I was that I Work From Home and did not need to spend ten minutes or more, scraping snow and ice from my car before setting out to work, checking the windscreen washer was not frozen and could clear the dirt from the windscreen, heating up the seats of the car too, all in readiness for me starting my journey into the office.

Once on the road, I would be confronted by the snow dance in the car. Keeping fingers crossed that the tyres were going to hold the road and not have me sliding into the path of oncoming vehicles, or brakes not stopping the car because of black ice. No, I am part of the Internet Business, so am at liberty to stay inside when the snow has fallen. I can sit in my snuggly pyjamas and dressing gown, drinking coffee while I tackle those Online Jobs which have arrived overnight and then, when all my neighbours have left and are on their way to their jobs, I can take some time out to enjoy the snow.

My kids love snowball fights, sledging and building snow castles, so that is what we do. The option to Work From Home gives me this flexibility. I can start work early in the day, take a break in the middle and then return to my jobs later in the evening, if that suits my family best. So, without any feeling of guilt, I park the Online Jobs which I have not yet done, get dressed in warm clothes, wrap the children up in hats, boots and gloves and out we go.

Some time later, we are all happy to return to the house having loved our time in the snow. A warm drink and something to eat and I return to my Internet Business. I can now continue with my daily tasks, having been refreshed by my time playing with the family. They are happy to entertain themselves for a while now to allow me to get back to my jobs, so we all benefit.

Had I not been lucky enough to Work From Home, I would have no doubt left my home while it was still dark to commute to the office, then because it is winter and the nights draw in early, it would be dark when I got back home. I would be promising my children that if the snow was still there at the weekend we could have fun in it together, but there would be no certainty, of course, that the snow would still be there at the weekend and we would all feel let down.

I, however, could undertake my Internet Business at hours that benefit me and my family, so playing in the snow, when it is there, and work on those Online Jobs when we are done playing is a real bonus for us. I love the fact that I am one of the fortunate ones who found a job working from the house, which gives a good living and at the same time affords me the flexibility to enjoy time with my children whenever we want, and work early hours or late, depending on our current needs.

In the first instance, there is my children. As with many families these days, it is a complex one, each member with their own worries, and this takes up a good chunk of my thoughts. On top of that I have my home, which as with most homes, takes a good deal of funding to keep in good repair and with pretty furniture. Then there is my job. I am fortunate that I Work From Home, so do not have to commute each day to work, but being self employed does have its own worries. As I have not been involved in my Internet Business for very long, it is very much the early days of this task for me, with many uncertainties about when funds will start to appear. I know in truth that it will happen in the near future, but a chunk of my thoughts are spent on this right now.

So, I give myself a break with the fact I cannot remember immediately every gift I have received. I thank people immediately for their presents, before I have time to file that role away as complete, and perhaps this is one of the reasons I do not remember the gifts, it is a completed duty. I need to think about jobs which are ahead of me or which I am currently working on, rather than those I have finished.
